Nobody wants their armpits to determine if you wear a sexy sleeveless dress or a tank top! But having dark underarms can be a source of embarrassment for all that suffer from this.
There are some medical conditions that can cause dark armpits, genetics, hormones etc... but the most likely culprit is your antiperspirant! Yup, that aluminum in almost EVERY antiperspirant can cause dark armpits. So what can be done? Well the first step is to ditch that stuff with aluminum. But what about odor? Here's the steps I took to change my armpits back to my normal skin color AND not have any underarm odor!
- quit using antiperspirants with aluminum
- switch up to aluminum free deodorant, there's plenty on the market now, my preference is Aluminum free Lume deodorant
- wash your pits daily with antibacterial soap
- wash weekly with a cleanser with benzoyl peroxide. I use Amazons brand, Solimo Acne Control Cleanser. I just put a pea size under each arm, and keep it there while I shower. Rinse it off last.
If you follow all of my recommended steps, you'll have normal skin tones under your arms and you won't smell, even if you sweat :)
